MOTOTRBO™ Just Got Even Better with New Radio Features Elevating the User Experience

Motorola Solutions text-to-speech, over-the-air battery management lets workers focus on jobs, not screens or spare batteries

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Jan. 28, 2015 - Motorola Solutions’ award-winning MOTOTRBO digital two-way radio portfolio continues to evolve, with several new features designed to make digital radio communications even more dynamic and intuitive.

Text to Speech gives the radio a voice, making it easier for workers to focus on their jobs. This capability enables the radio to read out text messages, work order tickets, channel names and other important information. Now delivery drivers can confirm customer addresses without taking their eyes off the road, while warehouse workers can continue working while receiving important order updates.

Workers have a lot to think about on their jobs, but having to remember a spare battery should not be one of them. With MOTOTRBO’s IMPRES™ Over-The-Air Battery Management, the radio automatically sends battery data over a radio channel to a central database, which identifies older batteries that won’t hold a full charge anymore. This means a hotel maintenance technician can now be sure his radio will stay up and running for the entire length of the shift, keeping him effective throughout his work day.

Motorola Solutions works closely with its customers and knows that different radio users have different preferences. The new User-Selectable Audio Profiles feature allows workers to customize the sound of their radios. Some radio users may choose the bright sound of “treble boost” because it penetrates background noise better, whereas others may prefer “bass boost” to better recognize who’s talking.

Dispatchers need to stay in control of their mobile workforces and the Event-Driven Location Update is designed to help. This feature uses the radios’ GPS capability to tell the dispatcher what’s happening and where. That means a school bus radio can send an alert and GPS location to the dispatcher whenever a bus door is opened, while a utility worker’s radio can send an alert wherever and whenever his boom lift is active.

Other key enhancements include:
  • Pre-Configured Telephone Patch: MOTOTRBO radio users can now be reached more easily by telephone, so when there’s an emergency, a response team can immediately be alerted wherever it is.
  • Trill Enhancement: MOTOTRBO radios now reproduce Spanish and Italian languages with more accuracy. So, regardless of what language they speak, workers can now be confident they will be understood clearly in all work environments.
  • Switch Speaker: Users can now switch audio between a radio’s speaker and headset at the touch of a button. There’s no need to unplug wires and cables.
Please contact your local MOTOTRBO-authorized channel partner for further details on these new updates as well as other MOTOTRBO two-way radio features.
