WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 5, 2020 – DiscoverE, the premiere non-profit engineering outreach organization, has been gifted $50,000 from the Motorola Solutions Foundation for programs supporting girls and women. The award is timed to celebrate International Women’s Day, Sunday, March 8.

DiscoverE’s programs, currently in over 70 countries worldwide, include Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, Global Marathon For, By and About Women in Engineering and Technology, the Future City Competition, World Engineering Day and Engineers Week.

DiscoverE recently commissioned a global survey, Despite the Odds, which provides an in-depth look at those girls and women in STEM and engineering who persist and thrive, how they have persevered and the common traits that have helped them overcome barriers. The survey results underscore many of the objectives and goals that are essential aspects of DiscoverE’s programs, including the need to foster a sense of community among women engineers and the need for strong and sustained mentorship between girls and women in the field.

"The Motorola Solutions Foundation believes in DiscoverE's mission to inspire present and future generations to discover engineering," said Monica Mueller, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. "We are proud to support their programs that benefit girls and women in honor of International Women's Day."

“We are honored to be recognized by our valued partner, the Motorola Solutions Foundation,” said Kathy Renzetti, executive director, DiscoverE.  “This gift, timed to International Women’s Day, provides us with the resources to further broaden our reach and amplify the message that dynamic engineering careers for women and girls are empowering and achievable no matter where they are in the world.”
