Motorola Solutions’ Fire Service Innovation Showcased at FRI 2014

Motorola will demonstrate its latest fire market solutions at the Fire-Rescue International (FRI) Expo on Aug. 15-16, 2014 in Dallas, Texas, at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center, at Booth #3525.

Attendees will experience how, in the new world of big data, technology helps turns noise into information, information into intelligence, and intelligence into safety so that public safety agencies can build safer cities, counties, states and communities that thrive. Multiple technology demonstrations will show how migrating to a digital radio system results in more effective communications and greater situational awareness, helping ensure the safety of fire personnel.

Motorola is pleased to co-sponsor the 2014 IAFC/Motorola Ben Franklin Award for Valor. For 45 years, this award has recognized first responders around the world for their expertise, leadership and heroism. The highest honor bestowed by the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), the award will be presented to this year’s recipient during the FRI general session.

KEY FACTS ABOUT MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS AT FRI

  • The Intelligent Data Portal is a mobile, cloud-based application that gathers contextual information from existing databases. It then organizes and maps it using role-based layers to show the location and context of people, resources, events and developing situations.
  • An enhanced version of our APX™ Personnel Accountability solution, which includes the telemetry from a Scott Safety SCBA, will be on display at the show. The solution will pass ¼ air levels as well as alarm notification to the Incident Command Terminal provided by Systems Definition Incorporated.
  • WAVE Broadband Push-To-Talk (PTT) allows Motorola to deliver the industry’s most complete PTT solutions portfolio by extending the reach of radio systems to broadband networks and devices, allowing non-radio users to participate in secure PTT communications. A suite of mobile and desktop applications turn Android™, iPhone® and BlackBerry® smartphones and tablets as well as laptops and PCs into effective team collaboration tools, allowing users to PTT quickly and securely from the office or in the field. Already the most widely deployed solution for broadband PTT with an extensive military and government customer base, the current version of WAVE® enables wireless integration for ASTRO® 25 conventional systems via MOTOBRIDGE radio gateways. Additional enhancements are planned for later this year that will provide wireline integration with ASTRO 25 trunked systems via ISSI.
  • The IAFC Ben Franklin Award for Valor has recognized first responders around the world for their expert training, leadership, safe practices and heroic actions. The actions of Rescue 3 of the Kaua’i Fire Department in Hawaii are being lauded with the presentation of this prestigious award for 2014. The IAFC will present medals to Captain Gordon Tamura, Rescue Specialists Aaron Hawthorne and Adam Hussey, Rescue Operator Bryan Doo and Pilot Clifton Cates for their daring two-day rescue of 121 hikers stranded by a sudden flash flood in one of the largest trail rescues in island history.
