MIAMI — Oct. 16, 2019 —
The Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, teamed up with the American Red Cross for a corporate day of service to renovate Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services' Miami Central Campus.

"Motorola Solutions’ global commitment to corporate responsibility is apparent in South Florida," stated Dr. Dorcas Wilcox, CEO of Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services. "After several interviews, Miami Bridge was chosen to receive this gracious renovation. Thanks to the Motorola Solutions volunteers, our kids, who have endured the unimaginable, get to sleep and learn in a more beautiful and safer space."

Nearly 60 Motorola Solutions employees from across the U.S. volunteered their time to assist Miami Bridge. The corporate day of service, including renovations to the shelter's conference room, beautification of the campus' grounds and the installation of four virtual reality systems in support of Miami Bridge's upcoming STEM Program initiative, renew the safe space for at-risk youth.

"We support Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services’ mission to ensure the safety and well-being of youth," said Monica Boada Mueller, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. "We are proud to partner with them and contribute to the positive impact they are making in the community.”

These efforts also introduce new immersive technology to the nonprofit, enriching Miami Bridge's science, technology, engineering and math education through virtual reality devices that these kids would not usually get to experience.

For more than 34 years, Miami Bridge has served as much more than an emergency shelter for kids and teens. The organization's residential/community behavioral services help local families, at-risk LGBTQ youth and truant students in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system by making free counseling, case management and mentoring services readily available. Through these preventive care services, Miami Bridge works to strengthen families and prevent juvenile crime and child abuse.
