Melbourne, Australia – 7 April 2015 – The South Australian Government has selected Motorola Solutions Australia to deliver a major project and ongoing services valued at more than AUD$175 million to upgrade and manage its government radio network (SAGRN) for seven years with an option to extend for up to five years.

The upgrade and management services will deliver considerable, long-term benefits to more than 20 public agencies that depend on the network to keep South Australian communities safe, including country and metropolitan fire services, police, ambulance and state emergency services.

The network will provide 99.999% availability to emergency services and ensure teams can communicate reliably to coordinate responses, whether managing day-to-day operations or in times of crisis.

The contract allows the South Australian Government to continuously focus on innovation. Motorola Solutions is integrating technologies to deliver the total solution, with complete lifecycle management services to ensure equipment stays current with a full programme of support to manage any technology changes.

This approach provides a foundation from which the South Australian Government can more effectively pursue its progressive introduction of intelligence-led public safety strategies, as technology improvements continue to make new and enhanced capabilities possible.

The new network will be an open standard, Project 25 network supported by integrated voice and data capabilities. Complex system integration works for the SAGRN will deliver new infrastructure for voice, dispatch consoles, call logging and network linking. Motorola Solutions will lead the project with support from specialised service partners with a strong, local presence in South Australia, helping generate local economic growth and long-term employment opportunities.

Motorola Solutions’ management services include service desk facilities, real-time operational reporting, statewide field services, and proactive network monitoring and stakeholder engagement for major incidents from its Network Operations Control Centres (NOCCs), which operate 24 hours per day, every day of the year.
