Motorola Solutions Unveils New Ultra-Portable Broadband Network Infrastructure at CCW 2018

  • New LXN 500 LTE Ultra Portable Network Infrastructure is the smallest, lightest full power broadband network of Motorola Solutions.
  • Groundbreaking portable LTE network solution for fast deployment wherever needed.
  • Motorola Solutions showcases new solutions at Critical Communications World (CCW) 2018, May 15 to 17 in Berlin/Germany at booth C10.

BERLIN, Germany – May 14, 2018 – When every second counts, first responders need to communicate seamlessly without missing a beat. Motorola Solutions has developed a groundbreaking portable LTE network solution, which enables first responders to establish high-speed public safety LTE coverage within minutes, everywhere. At Critical Communications World 2018, Motorola Solutions will present this next-generation broadband solution: The new LXN 500 LTE Ultra Portable Network Infrastructure.

Emergency operations demand continuous high-speed broadband coverage, yet traditional cell sites cannot always reach everywhere first responders need it. Inadequate capacity, coverage gaps and lack of network prioritisation can weaken first responders’ overall efficiency and safety.

Motorola Solutions’ LXN 500 LTE Ultra Portable Network Infrastructure is an easy-to-carry, miniaturised, full-power site that fits in a briefcase, backpack or vehicle so public safety organisations can bring the broadband network with them or install it at a fixed location.

Motorola Solutions’ smallest, lightest and fully functional LTE network is built on a platform that combines an eNodeB (eNB) and Evolved Packet Core (EPC). The Motorola Solutions LXN 500 creates an on-demand LTE bubble with a reach of up to one kilometer, which scales up to 100 subscribers. With an activation duration of approximately five minutes, first responders will instantly get the secure LTE coverage and capacity they need – anywhere, anytime.

The Wi-Fi equipped LXN 500 is a complete standalone LTE network that can host software applications such as mapping, messaging and video streaming to pinpoint in-field resources in cases of emergency and enable seamless collaboration. Its compact, IP54-rated design is made for harsh environments and can withstand heat, cold, rain and other conditions faced by first responders. Roof-mounted external antennas with Multiple-In-Multiple-Out (MIMO) configuration provide extended range and performance. Moreover, built-in GPS enhances personnel safety and route optimisation.

At CCW 2018, Motorola Solutions will also present a new integrated solution provided by its partner RED Technologies for the Motorola Solutions LXN 500: The TREM solution enables an efficient deployment of mission-critical mobile radio coverage for public safety and military. TREM provides real-time radio coverage maps, supervises connectivity and manages radio interferences during crisis situations. It will also integrate Licensed Shared Access for deployment of public safety radio networks within commercial networks when extra spectrum and service priority access are required.

“If a forest fire or other emergency breaks out in a remote area, police and fire brigade commanders can use the LXN 500 to quickly establish LTE coverage where needed,” explained Mark Schmidl, Vice President and General Manager, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) at Motorola Solutions. “We have designed the LXN 500 to cover a wide spectrum of use cases to bring broadband anywhere it needs to be. With our next generation of mission-critical, broadband-based solutions we want to help transform communications towards improved safety for first responders and the people they protect.”
