Motorola Solutions and DNK win ‘Best use of TETRA in Public Safety’ and ‘Green TETRA’ for Norway’s nationwide public safety network

BASINGSTOKE, England – March 12, 2015 –  Shortlisted in five categories, Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) has won two 2015 International TETRA Awards.

Together with Norway’s Directorate for Emergency Communication (DNK), Motorola Solutions has won ‘Best use of TETRA in Public Safety’ for Nødnett, the country’s first nationwide Public Safety network. From the polar north to Norway’s urban centres, Nødnett is one of the most innovative, challenging Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) based public safety digital voice and data communications networks in the world. With responsibility for operations and support of the Nødnett network until 2026, Motorola Solutions took the award-winning decision to select a sustainable approach early on in the building process to support performance and maintenance.

The awards, now in their fourth year, were judged by: David Chapiro, chairman, Intema Communications SA, Argentina;  Roger Dowling, former director of Sepura and TCCA, now an independent industry consultant; Robin Davis chair, TCCA Transport Group and civil business development director, Actica Consulting; Tony Gray, TETRA advocate currently working for P3 in Germany; Adrian Grilli, Managing Director, JRC UK and board member of EUTC (European Utilities Telecom Council);  Jolly Wong, Hong Kong Police and the TETRA Association’s Ambassador in China; Kevin Graham, managing director, Global Digital Solutions Pty Ltd; and Richard Lambley, Consultant Editor, TETRA Today Magazine.

Nødnett is the multi-agency digital radio communication system owned by DNK, which leads the development of the communication network for emergency and public safety services in Norway and is subordinated to the Ministry of Justice.
